THE SHORT ANSWER
Google Business Profile management is the ongoing work of optimising and maintaining the free listing that decides whether your business appears in Google Maps and the local three-pack. It covers categories, services, photos, opening hours, weekly posts, the questions and answers section, and replies to every review. Local Lift Reputation is a UK agency that runs all of that for local businesses on a rolling monthly plan from 199 pounds per month, with no long-term contract.

FAQ
STRAIGHT ANSWERS
Short, honest answers. No jargon, no sales pitch.
Google ranks the local pack on three things: relevance, distance and prominence. Distance you cannot change. Relevance comes from choosing the correct primary category, listing your real services, and describing them in the words customers actually search. Prominence comes from a steady flow of recent reviews, consistent name, address and phone details across UK directories, and local links. Most UK businesses lose on the first two because their category is wrong.
Freelancers typically charge 300 to 700 pounds per month, specialist agencies 800 to 2,500 pounds per month, and full-service marketing agencies more again. Local Lift plans run from 199 to 1,199 pounds per month because the profile work is systemised and the content is AI-assisted. Be cautious of anything under 150 pounds per month: at that price the work is usually automated citations and nothing else.
Sometimes. Google removes reviews that break its policies, which means fake reviews from people who were never customers, spam, abuse, conflicts of interest and off-topic rants. It does not remove a genuine review just because it is negative or unfair. The process is a policy report followed by escalation to Google support, and it works far more often when the report cites the specific policy breached.
The five common causes are: the profile is unverified, it has been suspended, it is a duplicate competing with your original listing, the service area is set instead of an address so it only shows to nearby searchers, or it simply ranks below the fold for that search. Search your exact business name in Google Maps first. If it appears there but not for your service keywords, the problem is ranking, not visibility.
Profile-level fixes such as categories, services and photos can move rankings within two to four weeks because Google recrawls profiles quickly. Review growth and citation consistency compound over two to three months. Website and content work for competitive service keywords usually takes four to six months. Anyone promising first-page rankings in thirty days is either targeting keywords nobody searches or is not being straight with you.
Regular SEO competes for the ten blue links and is largely won on content depth and backlinks. Local SEO competes for the map pack, which sits above those links and is won on a different set of signals: your Google Business Profile, proximity to the searcher, review volume and recency, and NAP consistency across directories. A local business that only does regular SEO is fighting for the less valuable half of the page.
Ask every customer, at the moment the job is finished and they are happiest, using a direct review link sent by text or email. That is compliant. What is not compliant is offering discounts or gifts for reviews, filtering out unhappy customers before asking, or writing reviews yourself. Google penalises review gating and can remove your entire review history for it. Volume plus recency beats a one-off push every time.
Increasingly, yes. When someone asks an AI assistant for a plumber in Leeds or a dentist near them, the answer is assembled from your Google Business Profile, your reviews, your website content and third-party directories. The businesses that get named are the ones whose information is consistent, structured and answers the question directly. This is why we optimise for answer engines and not only for the traditional ten blue links.
